Former UBC postdoctoral fellow Dr. Brianne A. Kent was recently named as one of four new members to Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Governing Council.Together with the Council’s current members, Dr. Kent will help shape health research that affects the lives of Canadians across the country. As part of her responsibilities, she will also advise the Minister of Health on how research can strengthen Canada's health care system and improve the effectiveness of health services and products for the benefit of all Canadians.
While at UBC, Dr. Kent was a researcher with the UBC Hospital Clinic for Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders, where her research focused on finding innovative treatments for Alzheimer's disease. She was a 2016-2017 Banting Postdoctoral Fellow. Today, Dr. Kent is a postdoctoral research fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
