The Postdoctoral Fellows Office in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 Killam Postdoctoral Fellow Research Prize. Both recipients will receive an award of $5,000 for outstanding research achievements during their time as UBC Postdoctoral Fellows.
The winners of the 2023 Killam Postdoctoral Fellow Research Prize are:
- Catriona Hippman (Faculty of Medicine)
Dr. Hippman is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Reproductive Health Program at BC Women’s Hospital and Health Care Centre in the Faculty of Medicine. Her research focuses on postpartum care for women and gender-diverse people living with series postpartum mental illness. By looking at how other countries have approached postpartum care through the use of Parent-Infant Psychiatric Units (PIUs) she hopes to better treat mental illness and improve postpartum care.
- Jonathan Basile (Faculty of Arts)
Dr. Basile is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of English Language & Literatures within the Faculty of Arts at UBC Vancouver. His research looks at evolutionary theory through the study of literature and literature theory.
The Killam Postdoctoral Fellow Research Prize is awarded annually for excellence in research. Established in 2011, the Killam PDF Prize is in memory of Izaak Walton Killam and his wife, Dorothy Johnston Killam, who together created the Killam trusts. Two prizes in the amount of $5,000 each are awarded to fulltime Postdoctoral Fellows at UBC in recognition of outstanding research and scholarly contributions while at UBC.
