Whether you pursue a career in academia or not, this may a good time to re-evaluate and update your career plan. Developing your career path is a process, and it begins with YOU. This workshop, part of a 2-part series on Career Building, offers practical career exploration tools and inspirational perspectives to help you position yourself for professional life after your Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Workshop One: Career-Building Begins with YOU!

At the core of career planning is clarifying the values, interests, skills and experience you want to bring to professional life and meaningful work. Whether you want to look for options outside of academia or not, discover some strategies to position yourself for what’s next. This interactive career exploration workshop will help you to:

  • Explore a practical framework for self-guided career development
  • Clarify key work values and their relevance to career decisions
  • Identify transferable skills in preparation for career decision-making
  • Discover how past accomplishments can prepare you for future plans
  • Create an Action Plan for future direction

About the Facilitator:

Sally Halliday, M.A., RCC is Managing Director of Counselling & Program Outreach at UBC Life and Career Centre. She develops courses and programs for adults in transition with the emphasis on supporting them to take meaningful action in their career choices.
